The 676-acre natural area, Weymouth woods, is different from a traditional park where longleaf pines are found, even hundred-year-old ones. Weymouth woods help you learn about rare species like the red-cockaded woodpecker, the Pine Barrens tree frog, and bog spicebush. The forest is like a natural theater for viewing wildlife.

The visitor center’s museum explores the longleaf forest, its flora and fauna, and its unique history. Early settlers in south-central North Carolina called this area The Pine Barrens because of its extensive longleaf pine forests.

3. Reservoir Park

The park has a 95-acre lake for enjoying more than 12 miles of hiking and biking trails. Exercise stations and seating areas can be found along the trail. Your pet must be leased here.

There are two picnic shelters with grills and picnic tables. Shelter 1 seats 35-40, and Shelter 2 seats 50-75. You can see the beauty of animals on the lake while walking around or sitting on the benches near the lakes. Swimming is not allowed, but you can go kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing.

4. Martin Park

Martin Park is an off-leash park for dogs. This spacious wooded place is suitable for dogs to play with other dogs. The dog owners can also meet and spend time with each other.

Here you can go for off-leash activities with your four-legged companion and play frisbee/fetch balls in the open area surrounded by trees and trails. Dogs love to get their feet wet in the creek, flowing from a spring.
